Josie's First Bath

Many people ask if I think Josie looks like Marlee did as a newborn... well I think they have some similar features. But I thought it was cute when we discovered that they sleep/slept the same. The first picture is Josie and the second is when Marlee was a newborn.

I want to wear the headband!

I was just taking a couple of pictures of Josie with this headband and Marlee kept watching and was a little jealous of the attention, so I put it on Marlee and she loved it! I know she feels like she doesn't get as much attention now that Josie is part of the family, so I guess I am going to have to learn to share my time and attention evenly :) Therefore, I have posted three pictures of each of them-- to be "fair."

JOSIE BARBARA MACK

Josie arrived on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. She was born at 10:43am. She weighed 8lbs 2 oz. She was 20inch long and was 3 days overdue! We are so blessed to have her arrive healthy and bring such a sweet spirit into our family. Babies are truly sent straight from heaven!

Our little family!

We are so excited that Josie joined our family.

Josie and Weston

Josie's cousin Weston, was born three weeks before her. We had to take pictures of them together bundled up in their blankets that their great-grandmother Smith made for them!

The BIG day!

I woke up Wednesday morning (January 28th) at around 8:00. Marlee was still sleeping and it was a good morning. Around 8:30 I felt a really strong contraction. Then another one shortly after. I went and asked Ivan if he had a stop watch and he didn't, so I just tried to keep track on a clock. By 9:00 I had had contractions every 3-5 mins. I went and told Ivan, who was on a team conference call at the time, that I think I am going into labor. ( I was induced with Marlee, so I wasn't sure how labor was going to be) He told his team, "I think my wife is in labor, I gotta go." Marlee was awake by now and Ivan had her in her highchair feeding herself breakfast. (This way I could labor without her by my side saying in a concerned voice, "Mommy?Mommy?")
I called my mom and asked her if I could go from no pain to 5 min apart contractions and she said, "I can tell by your voice you are in a lot of pain, go to the hospital, I'll meet you there." So Ivan hurried and got things packed up, washed Marlee, etc., while I continued to labor and think, "This was the most painful thing in my life, we better get going or we won't make it to the hospital. "(We live 25 mins from our hospital.) We got in the car and I told Ivan not to speed because I couldn't relax through my contractions knowing he was speeding. (Ivan was bummed because it would be his one free opportunity to speed and not get in trouble!)
We got to the hospital around 10:30am and Josie Barbara Mack was born at 10:43am!
